Question:
I am a student of DTDAuto, I faced with this problem, when I use Autoscope to check electromagnetic pulse for ABS sensor of Toyota Innova and I can see pulse appear at the two pins speed sensor of ECU connector, when disconnect the connector and rotate the wheel. I do the same for Honda Civic vehicle, but I can not see the wave form. The sensor of Honda Civic also has two terminals and in good state, could you give me some suggestions?. |

Answer:
Hi! There are two type of speed sensor in manufacturing technology both of them use two terminals:
- Electromagnetic coil sensor (apply for Toyota and Lexus vehicles) as following diagram: Therefore, all sensors used for Toyota are active sensors (they do not need the power from ECU) can still produce a sine pulse. - The Hall sensor (apply for Honda vehicles) as following diagram: Therefore, all Honda and Lexus vehicles use passive sensors (they need power from ECU) to produce a pulse (square pulse). Due to the effect of close and open circuit as an electronic switch inside the sensor ... Therefore, creating a pulse ON / OFF at pins signals 3, 18, 5, 15 as shown in the figure. So, when you pulled the sensor connector out of ECU then there is no power supply means no pulses occur at both terminals of the sensor. You can only see wave form when connector connected to the ECU. |
