Question: Hi DTDAuto, I have a problem with my KIA Bongo III truck, it works normally the time before. However, after I replaced 2 new injectors, the engine works not strong any more. I took it to the workshop for them used a Scanner to read faults but the fault was not found. So, what is this problem? Did I replace improper injectors? And do I need replace another type of injector?
Answer: Hi, as you described it is due to improper injector. Your vehicle is a diesel engine, you replaced new injectors without setting the special data codes of the injector is the reason which caused of that fault, in some cases, the engine even can not starts, DTDAuto will give you some suggestions as follow: As you know, the spray pressure of diesel engines are very high, when manufacture an injector, a small tolerance at mechanical manufacture of the injector will affect on the quality and quantity of fuel injection such as: not spray, spray are not spread, wrong quantity… In the past, it was mechanical adjusted directly. Nowadays, with injectors controlled by electronic, manufacturers tested and established special data code of the injectors as they release products to assure that each injector have a corresponding code with variable of manufacturing mechanical (IQR). When replace new injectors, technicians need to declare ECU about the code to correct compensation inside control stage to fit with the new injector. The, injector will work properly.
This task can be called the correction of electric injectors and performed by a intelligent tester which supports this special function. Therefore, if you even replace the same type of injector you would have to enter this code again for the ECU or it will be caused of these following faults:
- Engine work but the power out of request (in this case the variance is small between the new and the old injector) - Engine can not starting (in this case the variance is big between the new and the old injector). The gasoline engines are no need to setting this special data code because of small injection pressure…This task is also applied for all diesel engines of other manufacturers. We suggest you to join a training course of DTDAuto to have more knowledge about this topic. Sincerely! DTDAuto technicians. |
