Home FAQ Diesel engine electrical system
Question: Hi DTDAuto! Could you help me with this situation? I have a problem with 29 seats E-County D4DD Hyundai as following describes: Engine is normal operation. However, when I speed up, or clamp up hill. Suddenly, the check engine light flash one time, the engine become weakness and can not accelerate even I pressed deeply the pedal. Turn off the ignition key a few seconds, and then restart it, the engine operates normally. However, after running a short time it is got the similar malfunction. The frequency of faults increases day by day. This malfunction is quite dangerous because I can not pass other vehicles or clamp up hill, I must to find a place to stop vehicle and start again. I have asked repair workshops but some say malfunction is caused of ECM, other say injector reason… I am really in a puzzled state; hope to have a solution from DTDAuto technicians. Thank you!
Answer: The fault that you describe is a common fault of “Common Rail” diesel engine, when used several years, the engine often not enough fuel injection system pressure at heavy load condition. This fault is often happened at the components relate to fuel pressure supply system for the injectors as:
- Fuel Filter
- High pressure pump
- Fuel Control Valve (inlet valve or outlet valve): The fault is not at the filter if it was periodically replaced. Then your fault is caused of high pressure pump (stuck fuel flow, or fault inside) or fault at Fuel Control Valve. Normally, this valve or pump cluster are not separated sold on market or high cost. However, you still can buy them. You should replace the valve first if your vehicle works normally, you don’t need to replace pump. If you have diagnosis tools, the problem will be solved easily. You can use ET1013 Scanner to determine that fault is caused of the valve or pump. If the fault is caused of pump, screen will show the fault code P1219 as following:
