Question: (From email address: hanky9x@yahoo.com)
Could DTDAuto tell me what is the purposes of connection between E1 and TE1? Thank you!
Answer: Hi, On some vehicles using DENSO symbol like Toyota and Lexus, E1 is symbol of “negative”, T or TE1 is ”Testing Mode”, it is a special digital input signal of ECU. The connection of TE1 with E1 at the connector is the same as make the TE1 input signal fall from H level to L level. It is a request for ECU to change from the working mode into testing mode. Then, it will perform many functions such as:
- Reset ECU
- Temporary lock the automatic correction of ignition angle, then advance ignition angle is the latest and fixed with “G” position signal, unchanged according to load and speed of engine. Then you can check basic ignition angle exactly.
- Read faults using flash format of malfunction indicator light (MIL code) for most of the vehicle systems as: ECM, TCM, ABS, SRS…
- Register again immobilizer if conduct as the request…. And many other functions and purposes.
